Pediatric Emergency Medicine
The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona is recruiting a board certified Emergency Medicine physician (ABEM) who is also sub-boarded in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or joint boarded in Pediatrics. The successful candidate will be an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Arizona Health Sciences Center, University Medical Center, the prime teaching/clinical site, is a regional referral center and the only level one trauma center in Southern Arizona.
The Department of Emergency Medicine’s residency program at the University of Arizona is in its 23rd year and attracts the brightest and best students from around the country. As a long-standing residency program, it has recognized the importance of training Emergency Medicine residents in the special needs of pediatric patients in the emergency setting. This is done through a well-established curriculum along with a close working relationship with the Pediatric residency program. The Department of Emergency Medicine is expanding its commitment to Pediatric Emergency Medicine to include a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Section within the Department of Emergency Medicine and a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship or combined residency program in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. Plans are underway to establish the first dedicated pediatric hospital in Southern Arizona at University Medical Center. To prepare for the future, the Department of Emergency Medicine is expanding the number of Pediatric-trained Emergency Medicine faculty with the potential for a joint academic appointment in Pediatrics.
