Emergency Medicine Research
The Department of Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona is actively seeking faculty members who are interested in clinical research and willing to contribute to a fast growing department committed to the development of funded research in its primary research foci of preparedness, translational research and injury prevention. We are particularly interested in individuals who have demonstrated an active interest in a specific research area and can articulate a clear personal roadmap to success in funded research.
The Department of Emergency Medicine, University Medical Center and The University of Arizona are uniquely positioned to support the research activities of faculty members. The department staffs the emergency departments at University Medical Center and UPH Kino serving a combined annual patient volume of 110,000 visits with short term volume projections at 150,000. UMC is the only level one trauma center in southern Arizona.
The Arizona Health Sciences Center (AHSC) at The University of Arizona contains a Medical Center that is rated as one of the top ten in the United States. AHSC contains the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health. It has a strong commitment to collaborative research. In addition to active collaborations within the College of Medicine the department has active research with the schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, the Eller School of Business and the College of Optical Sciences. The UA is extending the resources of the College of Medicine by establishing the Phoenix campus. The department has strong, established collaborative research relationship with the largest hospital group in Phoenix area.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona has a long tradition of successful clinical education and a training program that attracts the best and brightest medical students. The Department has 34 faculty members with 17 currently funded or actively in the grant development process.
The Clinical Research position would be an integrated part of the faculty and in addition to competitive salary and benefits would receive protected time that is consistent with an agreed upon level of research productivity.
