University Physicians Hospital at Kino

Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine

Department of Emergency Medicine
Arizona Health Sciences Center and
University Physicians Healthcare Hospital at Kino
Tucson, Arizona

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona is expanding to a second practice site and is recruiting emergency physicians and urgent care physicians to join our internationally recognized faculty. Our department is growing in many exciting ways. Dr. Frank Walter, one of the innovators of the Advanced Hazmat Life Support program, has been appointed as Arizona’s Toxic Terrorism guru. Dr. Terry Valenzuela has just renewed his commitment with Tucson Fire Department as medical director for the EMS community. Dr. Harvey Meislin, our chair, was named as president of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Dale Woolridge, one of our newest faculty members, has successfully passed both his Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine Board exams and is ready to head our combined EM/Peds residency. Dr. Albert Fiorello is leading an effort to establish an Emergency Medicine ultrasound fellowship. The Department of Emergency Medicine has embarked on a major commitment to academic research and is actively recruiting a clinical research leader. Our faculty is on the move, being noticed and making contributions to our specialty. We are interested in adding your skills to our group.

In July of 2005, our group will assume control of the Emergency Department at University Physicians Healthcare Hospital at Kino (UPH). UPH was acquired by our parent organization, University Physicians Healthcare in February 2004. UPH at Kino is located in one of the fastest growing areas of Tucson and presents a tremendous opportunity for our group. We are building a second academic emergency medicine presence in Tucson at this site. Our group, which is dedicated to excellence in emergency medicine, needs bright and energetic emergency physicians to help build a second excellent academic unit.

We are able to offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, generous CME stipend, an academic appointment, and significant growth potential to qualified applicants.

The minimum qualifications are:

  • M.D. degree
  • Arizona medical license
