Applying to Both the Categorical and Combined Program
Application to and ranking for The University of Arizona combined EM/Peds residency program is kept completely separate from that of the categorical EM program. Yet, both programs utilize the same interview machinery. Combined applicants who are invited to interview will spend two full days interviewing along side (and identical to) categorical applicants. One day will be spent interviewing with the Department of Emergency Medicine and the other day with Department of Pediatrics. For those of you who are applying for both the combined and categorical programs, the interview cycle (since identical to the categorical interview) will serve for both applications. It should be understood that a concurrent application to the combined program or categorical program will in no way benefit or compromise the other and vice versa. Again, interviewing is identical but recruitment and ranking for the two programs are kept completely separate.
