Clinician Scientist Program

The Department of Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona is proud to announce and recruit candidates for a novel structured faculty development program. These junior faculty will enter a two-year mentored faculty program whose goal is to produce academic emergency physicians capable of launching successful academic careers. The program respects the need to develop skill sets in four domains: Clinical expertise, Teaching excellence, Research fundamentals and an understanding of the need for life long Service to institutional and specialty organizations. These will be achieved through close and structured mentored experiences and opportunities. Upon completion, these physicians will have exceptional potential for rapid promotion in the specialty of academic emergency medicine.

Summary Details

  • Clinical attending approximately 2 shifts per week
  • Teaching opportunities and skill development at GME and Undergraduate levels
  • Completion of the Arizona Clinical Research Training Program (16 graduate course credits + mentored research, grant submissions)
  • Mentored Service opportunities on local and national committees
  • Faculty Instructor title
